No idea but if the baby's mother has Belgian nationality your baby will have Belgian nationality by default. Acquiring Belgian nationality will mean you will have to surrender your current nationality, to my knowledge dual nationality is not allowed if you are an adult (18+) Here 2 dutch language links to legislation on naturalisatie as they call it: http://www.juridat.be/cgi_loi/arch_a.pl?sql=(text+contains+(''))&cn=1984062835&rech=1&caller=archive&language=nl&numero=1&fromtab=wet&la=N&tri=dd+AS+RANK&ver_arch=003 http://www.diplomatie.be/nl/services/nationalitydetail.asp?TEXTID=454 Make it 3 ...: http://www.dekamer.be/kvvcr/showpage.cfm?section=|nat&language=nl&story=nat.xml&rightmenu=right

You may become a Belgian citizen after 3 years of uninterrupted legal residency in Belgium. Contact the town hall for more information.

I think you have to go 3 years and then visit the commune area in your town. My friend told me 7 years but i don't know if she's correct. If your child is a different nationality then you have to do the same as yourself.
