You wanna read my profile. Which is based on personal experience... Beyond that it is too broad a question really. Belgium is a pillarised society where the old ways die hard. There is a good social security system that for those that contribute to it. You are obliged by law to have health insurance. Foreigners need a residence permit to find work legally, including EU citizens ... blah, blah like I said, it is a very broad question. .

I like it :-) Some remarks: - if you have a job before you come over and they arrange all papers, it is wonderful. If you have the good papers like a working permit and so, you can find a job but it will be hard (especially these days since there is a economical drop-down, you know. Companies fire groups of people or even close down). If you don't have the correct papers, you are illegal and can never find a decent job, so you will have problems with health insurance, renting a flat or house for a normal price, you can be arrested any moment and locked up for deportation to your home country,... If you have a job before you come over and they arrange all papers - in the Flanders area almost everyone speaks 3 or more languages (even in the rural areas, except from older people). Dutch is the mother-tongue, we learn French from 10 years on and English from 14 years on. And you find people who speak German or Spanish in every street. Arab and Turkish is spoken in areas in all cities, you find Italian speaking people in Limburg. So it all depends on your personal situation...
