The standard of living in Belgium is high and is achieved thanks to a high macro-economic performance. Many residents benefit from this high standard of living. The tax and social security systems are well developed and ensure that incomes are distributed relatively evenly.

The standard of living in Belgium is very good! The wages aren't low and connected to the index; this means that when the price off several goods goes up, the wages go up also. We have a firm social security system to protect everyone who gets sick, loose there job, etc. The living in Belgium is easy...

I find it expensive. I came here in January from the UK. Internet is 40 Euro per month for a capped service. In the UK it cost me £14.99 per 3 months for an uncapped service. Dried fruit is double the price, butter is more expensive and so are general toiletries. eBay.be is pretty useless compared to eBay.uk, i pay through the nose for fresh milk, UHT milk seems to be the Belgian's favourite. Lots of supermarket food is laden with hydrogenated fats and very few manufacturers seems to be aware of natural colourings as opposed to E-numbers. The streets are clean ... but then i don't live in Gent, Brussels or Antwerpen. Petrol is dearer per litre in Euros than it is in £ but the diesel is cheaper than in the UK.
